Pregnancy. Education & Parenting Program
The mission of the Pregnancy, Education, and Parenting (PEP) Program is to enable school-age parents, through education, to become self-sufficient, responsible, job-oriented citizens. The Program’s goal is to reduce the number of students who drop out of school due to pregnancy and/or parenthood and to recover young parents to the educational system.
- Counseling
- Transportation for student, and the student’s child(ren), as appropriate, to and from the campus or child care facility
- Child care for the student’s child(ren), as appropriate, at a child care facility in close proximity to the home or campus
- Instruction (inside and/or outside the classroom) related to child development, parenting and home and family living
- Health services, including services from the school nurse and certified athletic trainer
- Case Management and Service Coordination (assistance in obtaining available services from government agencies and/or community service organizations)
- Technology Resources
- Tutoring Services
- Compensatory Education Home Instruction (Face to Face and/or Virtual Instruction)
Pregnancy Related Services (PRS) are Support Services including Compensatory Education Home Instruction (CEHI) a pregnant student receives during the pregnancy prenatal and postpartum periods to help her adjust academically, mentally and physically stay in school.
These services are delivered to the student when:
- the student is pregnant and attending classes on a district campus; the pregnancy prenatal period prevents the student from attending classes on a district campus; and
- the pregnancy postpartum period prevents the student from attending classes on a district campus
