Parents Information

  • Partnering with Parents and Guardians

Parents and guardians are also encouraged to communicate with the campus librarian and their child’s teacher about special considerations regarding library materials that have been self-selected by their child. In accordance with state law and administrative procedures, parents or guardians may select alternative library materials for their child.

    Library Book Notification

To comply with the law passed by the Texas legislature in June 2025, all parents will receive an email notification when their child borrows a book from the school library. This email notification serves as a record of all student checkouts for parents.

  • In compliance with state law, United ISD provides a public list of all library materials that have been donated to or are proposed to be procured by a school library, which is accessible for a public comment period of at least 30 days before final board approval.

Parents, students, and/or community members living within the school district zone are welcome to provide comments/feedback on the materials lists by submitting through this feedback form. All comments received within the 30-day comment period will be reviewed and considered prior to finalizing the purchase.
