Elementary Mathematics Program

The Department of Elementary Mathematics is part of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. We are committed to providing support to teachers, students, and the community to ensure that ALL students become life-long learners, problem-solvers, and analytical thinkers. We maintain high standards of excellence to meet the changing needs of a diverse population of learners.

Program Overview

The Department of Elementary Mathematics promotes excellence in teaching and learning by enabling all students to build a foundation of basic understandings in number sense, number operations, and quantitative reasoning; patterns, relationships, and algebraic thinking; geometry and spatial reasoning; measurement; probability and statistics; and problem-solving. Our department provides a high-quality TEKS-based scope and sequence aligned with state and district standards and enhanced with meaningful learner-centered activities and technology applications. We provide staff development opportunities for teachers and parents to empower students to reach maximum academic success and develop positive attitudes in acquiring proficiency in mathematics.
