United ISD Appoints Izzamary Torres as Principal of Ricardo Molina Middle School

United Independent School District welcomes to the big leagues Izzamary Torres, the newly appointed principal of Ricardo Molina Middle School. Bringing 23 years of dedicated experience in education, Mrs. Torres steps into her new leadership role with a passion for student success, instructional excellence, and a deep commitment to the South Laredo community, where her educational journey first began.
She has served United ISD for more than two decades, most recently as assistant principal at United High School, a position she held for the past four years. Prior to that, she spent 10 years as an assistant principal at Los Obispos Middle School. Throughout her 14 years in campus administration, she has remained focused on supporting teachers, strengthening instruction, and helping the schools she served achieve and maintain "A" accountability ratings.
Mrs. Torres began her career as a reading teacher, later serving as a Master Reading Teacher and Pathfinder before transitioning into campus leadership as Academic Coordinator at Los Obispos Middle School. That experience inspired her to pursue a career in school administration, where she made a lasting impact on students and educators alike.
"This promotion is the opportunity of a lifetime," said Mrs.Torres. "I am incredibly excited and honored to serve the very community where I first began my career. Molina Middle School holds a very special place in my heart because I personally knew Mr. Ricardo Molina,” added Mrs. Torres. “I remember our conversations about education and his deep commitment to the children and this community. Leading this school allows me to honor and continue that legacy.”
As the principal of Ricardo Molina Middle School, Mrs. Torres plans to foster a collaborative environment among teachers, administrators, and students, while maintaining open communication with parents and the community.
A proud graduate of Nixon High School, Mrs. Torres earned her bachelor's degree in Reading with a minor in Mathematics and her master's degree in School Administration from Texas A&M International University.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, she is a proud mother of three children, all graduates of United ISD. She is happily married to her husband of 29 years. She enjoys traveling, DIY home improvement projects, and spending time with their grandchildren.
“I would like to acknowledge and thank my husband for his unwavering support,” said Mrs. Torres. “He values education just as deeply as I do and truly understands the invaluable impact teachers and administrators have on the future of our children. He has always stood by my side and supported me.”
United ISD congratulates Mrs. Izzamary Torres on her appointment and looks forward to the leadership and vision she will bring to Ricardo Molina Middle School.
