Sick Leave Pool (Catastrophic Donation Program)

The United ISD Sick Leave Pool allows District employees to support a coworker during a severe medical crisis. When an eligible staff member faces a catastrophic illness or injury and has run out of paid leave, a pool can be established so coworkers can donate their own local and/or state leave days to help them.

Program Purpose

The Sick Leave Pool is designed to provide financial relief for employees who:

  • Have completely exhausted all of their accumulated paid leave (including days from the Sick Leave Bank).
  • Are unable to work due to their own catastrophic illness or injury.
  • Must be absent from work to care for a member of their immediate family who is suffering from a catastrophic illness or injury.

How to Apply

An employee must submit the Sick Leave Pool Request along with the Physician’s Statement Form to the human resources office via the following methods:

Approved requests will be published and emailed district-wide by HR.
