United Independent School District is proud to announce the promotion of Roxanne Villagomez to principal of Octavio Salinas Elementary School.
She joined United ISD in 2018 and brings more than 18 years of experience in education to her new role. Her most recent position was assistant principal at Salinas Elementary.
Villagomez has held various roles, including Family & Community Engagement Coordinator and After School Adventure Coordinator in the Federal & State Programs Department at United ISD, Academic Coordinator at United Middle School, Instructional Facilitator at Memorial Middle School, as well as Instructional Coach, Social Studies Teacher, and Math Teacher at Cigarroa Middle School.
“These experiences have allowed me to develop a strong background in instructional leadership, program management, and building effective partnerships with families, the community, staff, and students,” Villagomez said.
She is excited to lead in her new role as principal.
“In my new role, I hope to cultivate a school environment where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their fullest potential. My goal is to strengthen collaboration among staff, foster meaningful partnerships with families and community organizations, and promote a culture of high expectations and continuous growth,” Villagomez said.
“I am committed to supporting our teachers’ professional development and implementing data-driven practices to enhance student achievement, while making sure that everyone in our school community feels welcomed, valued, and heard. My vision is to build a campus where students are eager to come to school each day, teachers feel supported and inspired in their work, and families are actively involved in the life of our school,” she added.
A 1996 graduate of United High School, Villagomez earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with minors in Speech and Communication, Sociology, and Psychology from Texas A&M International University in 2007. In 2013, she completed her Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in Bilingual Education, also from Texas A&M International University. In addition to her degrees, she holds a Texas teaching certification as a Bilingual Generalist for grades 4–8 and a Principal certification for grades EC–12.
In her spare time, she enjoys reading, spending quality time with her family, and fishing. She also appreciates opportunities for personal and professional growth, whether through learning new skills, attending educational workshops, or exploring topics that inspire her both inside and outside of education.
“I am deeply thankful for the unwavering support of my family, including my husband, Ricardo Villagomez, and my sons, Ricardo Villagomez Jr. and Romeo Villagomez, who have been a constant source of encouragement throughout my journey,” Villagomez said.
“I also want to honor my parents, whose example instilled in me the values of dedication and hard work. The memory of my late mother, my angel, continues to inspire me every day. In addition, I am grateful for the mentors and colleagues whose guidance and challenges have shaped my growth as both an educator and a leader,” she said.
