UISD's Tomorrow's Teachers Middle School Mini-Conference Inspires Future Educators

Dozens of middle school students aspiring to be educators from across United ISD gathered under one roof for the Tomorrow’s Teachers Middle School Mini Conference held on Thursday, October 30th, at the Student Activity Center. Hosted by the Human Resources Department, this year’s theme was “Blossoming Educators: Growing Tomorrow’s Teachers.” This year, they achieved 100% participation across all district middle schools, demonstrating strong student engagement and enthusiasm.
A key component of the conference was the vital collaboration provided by the high school Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) clubs, whose members designed and facilitated all activities for their younger peers. Their mentorship created an interactive learning environment, inspiring middle school students to envision a future in the classroom.
UISD recognizes TAFE sponsors Griselda Gonzalez from Alexander High School, Sandra Martinez from Lyndon B. Johnson High School, Amanda Benavides from United High School, and Kimberly Jalomo from United South High School for their leadership and dedication in guiding students and coordinating this district-wide initiative.
The Mini-Conference also featured spirited competitions designed to showcase students’ creativity and encourage student development. The winners are as follows:
Story Telling Contest:
1st Place Nicole Hernandez
2nd Place Jeiny Garza
3rd Place Julian Sanchez
Trifold Contest:
1st Place Lamar Bruni Vergara
2nd Place Los Obispos Middle
3rd Place Trautmann Middle
This year marks the 24th anniversary of UISD’s Tomorrow’s Teachers Program, dedicated to cultivating the next generation of educators. Thanks to the continued support of campus sponsors and district leaders, the program continues to inspire students to pursue careers in the field of education.
