United ISD Announces Cindy Monsivais-Mendoza as New Principal of Roberto J. Santos Elementary

United Independent School District is proud to announce the promotion of Cindy Monsivais-Mendoza to Principal of Roberto J. Santos Elementary School.
Mrs. Monsivais-Mendoza brings 25 years of experience in education and a proven record of instructional leadership, curriculum development, and student success to her new role.
Most recently, she served as Assistant Principal at Freedom Elementary School, where she spent the last two years supporting teachers and students while providing professional development in technology and mathematics instruction. Her efforts contributed to improving overall student performance in mathematics STAAR scores.
Her career with United ISD began in 2001 as a sixth-grade mathematics teacher at United South Middle School. During her ten years in the classroom, she taught multiple grade levels and was featured in the district's Learning Walks initiative for her innovative use of technology to help gauge student mastery. In 2011, she became the first Math Pathfinder at Lamar Bruni-Vergara Middle School, where she worked closely with teachers to improve mathematics student performance on state assessments. Two years later, she was named Assistant Principal at George Washington Middle School before being selected as the district's Middle School Math Coordinator. During her 11 years in that role, Mrs. Monsivais-Mendoza collaborated with educators across the district to strengthen curriculum and instructional practices, helping middle school mathematics performance consistently exceed regional and state averages.
"I am excited to get to know the staff, teachers, students, and parents at Roberto J. Santos Elementary," said Mrs. Monsivais-Mendoza. "I look forward to working collaboratively with the entire school community to make learning fun and help all students reach their highest potential."
As principal, Mrs. Monsivais-Mendoza's goal is to continue fostering academic excellence while inspiring a love of mathematics and science among students and staff. She is committed to leading Roberto J. Santos Elementary toward continued growth and achieving an A-rating.
A product of Laredo schools, Mrs. Monsivais-Mendoza graduated as Salutatorian from Martin High School in 1997 before earning a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics from Texas A&M University in College Station. She later earned a Master of Science in Educational Administration from Texas A&M International University.
Mrs. Monsivais-Mendoza is married to Victor Mendoza and is the proud mother of Eric and Danny, and stepson Julian. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, attending concerts, and singing karaoke.
“I would like to thank all my former bosses who have helped shape me to become the leader that I am today,” said Mrs. Monsivais Mendoza. “Special thank you to Ms. Stephanie Garcia, who always leads with her heart, her data, and her passion. Most importantly, I want to thank my mom, who has always been my role model. I hope to continue to make you proud.”
United ISD congratulates Mrs. Monsivais-Mendoza on this well-deserved promotion and looks forward to the positive impact her leadership will have on Roberto J. Santos Elementary.
