UISD Names Pearl Sanchez Principal of Roosevelt Elementary School

United Independent School District announces the promotion of Pearl Sanchez to Principal of Roosevelt Elementary School.
Sanchez brings nearly 20 years of experience with UISD and a deep commitment to student success, staff collaboration, and family engagement. Most recently, she served as Special Populations Administrator at Cuellar Elementary School. In this position, she focused on building strong relationships and establishing trust among staff, students, and families.
“Building deep trust among staff, students, and families was one of my greatest accomplishments,” Sanchez said. “Those relationships create the foundation for a positive school culture where everyone feels supported and valued.”
Throughout her career with UISD, Sanchez has served in a variety of roles, including permanent substitute teacher, teacher aide, classroom teacher, academic bilingual coordinator, and special populations administrator. Her diverse experiences have equipped her with a strong understanding of the educational needs of students and the importance of supporting teachers.
Sanchez said she is honored and excited to join the Roosevelt Elementary community.
“I am incredibly happy to be appointed because this school’s values align perfectly with my own philosophy of what elementary education should be: a joyful, safe, and rigorous community where both teachers and students love to show up every single day,” she said. “To lead a school family like this is exactly where my passion lies.”
As principal, Sanchez plans to begin her leadership by conducting a “Listen and Learn” Tour, meeting individually and in small groups with every faculty and staff member during her first 60 days on campus.
“By combining our shared traditions with a collaborative spirit, I know we can push boundaries, support one another, and reach ambitious new goals for our students and community,” Sanchez said.
Among her primary responsibilities will be analyzing school-wide data to identify student groups that may need targeted interventions and additional resources to ensure academic success.
Sanchez believes her leadership style makes her well-suited for the position.
“I don’t lead from a closed office,” she said. “My goal is to learn from my staff and cultivate a high-trust, collaborative environment. Teachers are the classroom experts, and I believe in empowering them through strong professional learning communities.”
A graduate of Texas A&M International University, Sanchez has been married for 18 years. She proudly describes herself as a devoted aunt to three boys she loves dearly. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, spending time with her husband and family, and embracing her role as a full-time soccer auntie.
UISD congratulates Sanchez on her promotion and looks forward to the positive impact she will make as Principal of Roosevelt Elementary School.
