State Accountability
The Texas A–F Accountability System provides a clear, transparent way to evaluate the academic performance of schools and districts across the state. Each district and campus receives a letter grade (A–F) based on three main areas:
- Student Achievement: Measures how well students perform on state assessments, college/career readiness, and graduation rates.
- School Progress: Examines academic growth year over year and how well students perform compared to similar schools.
- Closing the Gaps: Focuses on how well schools are supporting all student groups, including those who are economically disadvantaged or part of historically underserved populations.
These ratings help identify areas of strength and opportunities for improvement to ensure all students are prepared for success after high school. As of December 2024, the TAPR does not include A-F ratings or Distinction Designations. The issuance of A-F ratings under 2024 rule is pending and subject to change.
