United ISD and Gateway Community Health Center Partner to Expand Affordable Healthcare Access for Em

United Independent School District and Gateway Community Health Center officially joined forces this week through a Memorandum of Understanding to promote health and wellness across the district. This initiative aims to make quality healthcare more accessible and affordable for employees amid rising healthcare and insurance costs.
The partnership was formalized during an MOU signing ceremony and press conference this week, bringing together district and Gateway Community Health Center leaders to mark its launch.
“This MOU represents a significant step forward in our partnership with Gateway Community Health Center,” said Superintendent Dr. Gerardo Cruz. “By leveraging Gateway’s nine Webb County clinic locations and a dedicated Mobile Clinic that visits school facilities, staff can access their insurance with an in-network provider for primary medical, dental, and behavioral health care, including preventive checkups, screenings, and lab work.”
Through Gateway’s state-of-the-art facilities and mobile healthcare units, UISD employees will also have access to X-rays, mammograms, ultrasounds, and other preventive healthcare services at a low cost. Additionally, employees will also have access to Gateway’s in-house pharmacy for their prescription medication needs.
The initiative is part of UISD’s ongoing efforts to support the overall well-being of its faculty and staff. By partnering with Gateway Community Health Center, the district is providing employees with additional healthcare resources while creating greater convenience and affordability. Both entities are committed to promoting healthier employees, increasing access to care, and strengthening the well-being of the UISD community.
