United South H.S. Students Learn Financial Literacy from Local Investment Firm Cresta Advisors

Students from the United South High School Academy of Global Business and Advanced Technology received a special visit from Cresta Advisors, a local registered Investment Advisory Firm. Sophomore and junior students had the opportunity to learn directly from industry experts Jeronimo Martinez, Director of Public Funds, and Emmanuel Guajardo, Senior Financial Advisor. They spoke to students about smart investing, making informed financial decisions, and building long-term financial stability. The financial professionals also discussed smart ways to grow money, such as investing and trading, while highlighting the associated risks.
During the presentation, students explored key financial topics, including credit building, the stock market, and retirement planning, equipping them with real-world knowledge to help secure their financial futures.
USHS Securities & Investments teacher Sara Hernandez emphasised the importance of early financial literacy.
“This presentation is beneficial for the students because it's important for them to start learning about investing in the future and how they can make their money work for them,” she said. “They can receive some guidance from the advisors.”
“I like how the presenters are giving us the information in vocabulary we’re used to. I’m enjoying the information they are sharing with us about the stock market and how we can invest better,” shared USHS Junior Gerardo Becerra.
The presentation provided students with practical guidance and insight into careers in finance. United South High School hopes that presentations like this one will empower students to make financially responsible choices for years to come.
