When inclement weather threatens normal school operations, the following steps are taken:
The Communication Process - What Happens Next
When a decision is made to cancel school, delay school, or dismiss school early, the district will notify parents using the SchoolMessenger mass notification system and the UNITED ISD website will be updated as quickly as possible. Our goal is to notify our stakeholders no later than 5:15 a.m. In some instances we may opt to send out a notification the night before.
Information about school closures, delays, or early dismissal also will be communicated through the following media, including but not limited to:
School Messenger (email, phone and text messaging)
Social Media - Facebook, Instagram and Twitter @unitedisd
Local Media outlets including radio, TV and print/online newspapers
Information related to rescheduled events or cancelled events will also be posted online under the "Keep UISD Safe" - Contingency Plan Delay Start of School.
