United High School's One Act Play Students Ready for Next Level Challenge

Students in United High School's One Act Play program advanced to the UIL Regional level competition for their performance of a scene from Wit, which was written by Margaret Edson and directed by Daniel Villarreal. The Bi-District competition was held in San Antonio, Texas on March 25, 2021, at Holmes High School. Special commendations were also awarded to the following students: Madison Sims, Best Performer; Nina Vela-Cuellar, Honorable Mention All-Star Cast; Ricardo Hernandez, Honorable Mention All-Star Cast; and Ivan Cardenas, All-Star Crew.

The next step for the talented troupe is to compete in a Regional level competition at Harlingen South High School in Harlingen, Texas on April 14-15, 2021. The UIL One-Act Play Contest is a competition where similarly sized Texas schools present 18-40 minute plays, which may be adjudicated by a panel of three judges or a single judge for further advancement to Bi-District, Region, and State.
