The Golden Heart Project

The Golden Heart Project is determined to getting our Laredo schools involved in honoring Childhood Cancer Awareness this September. It is our goal to see all schools “Go Gold” this month.

During the month of April, Autism Awareness is spread and fun-filled activities and walks are organized. Same thing goes for October as many schools “Go Pink” as they honor Breast Cancer Awareness. Meanwhile, in September, more support has been seen in some schools thanks to your help.

The Golden Heart Project is a small project for children with cancer in our community. Locally, about 25 children ages 1.5 yrs. to 18 years are facing this disease; either as a patient or a survivor. Sadly the number continues to increase.

Our mission is to create friendships and memories between children in this battle, to uplift spirits & to spread childhood cancer awareness everywhere we go. Our Vision is to see the children smiling, enjoying life & seeing our community GO GOLD during the month of September for awareness support.

The Golden Heart Project strives to involve the schools to pay respect to all the young warriors in this battle. We ask that you allow your students to GO GOLD on Friday’s during this month.

If any child in this battle attends one of your schools, I encourage you to possibly hosting a special event for them such as a parade or rally and experience firsthand the pride The Golden Heart Project takes in this cause.

Our project continues to focus on promoting awareness throughout our community and uplifting these children’s spirits. Please consider this for your schools and show support to these brave warriors who day by day continue to fight for a cure for this disease.

Displaying that September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month on your school marquees is one way for advocating and sharing support to us.

Respectfully,

Janee Nunez-Villarreal

GHP Founder & Cancer Survivor

  • Foto-Janeek Photography will gift each little Warrior in this battle a photo session yearly.
