United H.S. National Honor Society Recognized with Ruby Award for Outstanding Community Service

Congratulations to the United High School National Honor Society on receiving the Ruby Award from Innerview, for their impact through community service both on campus and in the community. Innerview is the leading youth platform that helps students and schools highlight community service impact. This program has been designed to connect student community service activities, skill development, and commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to transform the world.

This 2023-2024 school year 101 students from United High School were recognized for contributing their time and talent to drive positive progress in their community. Students from United High School delivered the most impact for SDG 4 - Quality Education. Schools with a collective student impact above 2,000 hours of service, the equivalent of a full time employee, are recognized with a School Impact Award. Just this school year alone the Longhorns invested 18,085 + hours in community needs, garnering the Ruby Award.

“Community service is, at its core, about bettering humanity, both the receiver and the giver. It is also, ironically, indistinct in its actual impact.  Yes, students can count hours, and yes, students can tally monetary donations, but InnerView.org has allowed these students to see the literal breadth and depth of the impact of their service in our community,” stated NHS Advisor S. McBurnette-Arguelles. “As a result, UHS students have been encouraged to expand their service, diversify their narrative, and deepen their influence.”

From the 101 recognitions earned, 84 were UNA-USA National Community Service awards and 50 were Zero Hunger awards. In total the value of the community service achieved by the Longhorns has a collective value of $540,070.

Students not only learn the importance of serving through the award program, but they gain a digital service resume for use in job and college applications to demonstrate personal commitment, 21st century skills, and key areas of interest.

This is the first year United High School joins Innerview, which is free and open to all high schools. Congratulations to all the recipients!
