Cesar Garcia Promoted to UISD Director of Student Assessment

The United Independent School District congratulates Cesar R. Garcia on his promotion to Director of Student Assessment for the Instructional Accountability Department. Garcia, who has been an integral part of the UISD community for over two decades, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role.

Garcia, who previously served as district data evaluator for six years, has been vital to the advancement of students through the development of innovative systems used by district employees. His exceptional accomplishments in this capacity have prepared him for his new leadership role. In his previous position, Garcia was responsible for building systems that facilitated student progress and provided reliable data for instructional decisions. His dedication and commitment to enhancing educational outcomes make him a natural fit for the role of Director of Student Assessment.

"I am excited to start this new chapter in my career and provide the needed leadership related to the assessment of students," said Garcia. "My goal is to provide exceptional customer service to all we serve while empowering individuals to become proficient in their responsibilities."

Garcia's extensive career history within the district spans multiple roles, including math teacher at Trautmann and Washington Middle schools, assistant principal at Trautmann Middle School, and district data evaluator. As Director of Student Assessment, he will oversee student assessment programs mandated by the state as well as other assessment initiatives offered at UISD. Additionally, he will lead the district data evaluators, ensuring accurate and reliable data for optimal instructional decisions across all departments.

Garcia's dedication to education is evident in his impressive educational history, including a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Texas A&M International University, a Master of Science in Education from Lamar University in Beaumont, and certifications as a 4-8 Math Teacher and EC-12 Principal.

Outside of his professional commitments, Garcia is a devoted husband to Sylvia Garcia, a counselor at Johnson High School's 9th grade, and a proud father of three boys. Born and raised in Laredo, Texas, he is a product of UISD's educational system and is deeply rooted in the local community. In his spare time, he enjoys being with his family and outdoor activities. UISD looks forward to his continued success in educational excellence.
