Students in The Academy of Global Business & Advanced Technology at United South High School, together with their teacher Claudia Saenz, attended The Southern Border Conference hosted by the Laredo Licensed U.S. Customs Brokers Association.
This year’s theme “Game of Trade” focused on discussing and learning about current issues affecting customs brokers. Students heard presentations on a variety of topics pertinent to global trade. They met with a variety of world business and security experts and with U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar.
One of the students, Lizzie Martinez, expressed, “this experience is something that logistics students like us cannot learn only through textbooks, and instead it becomes relevant by listening to industry experts.”
All students enrolled in the Business Magnet pathway receive a Logistics Technician One-Semester Certificate from Laredo College upon high school graduation.
