Journey to Imagination and Beyond - Elementary Summer School Program

Elementary General Description

May 31 Through June 28, 2023

The student school day will be from 8:00 a.m. to 2:45 PM, Monday through Thursday.  Pre-K through 5th grade will follow a comprehensive curriculum focusing in all content areas.

Summer school teachers will provide services to identified learners in need of extra support on  grade-level course content at a ratio of 15:1.

Students third through fifth grade will be provided accelerated instruction (HB4545) in  STAAR tested subjects to students projected to score below approaches level in the 2023 STAAR exam.
Students will have the opportunity to attend physical education classes with social-emotional learning activities including yoga and meditation exercises. As a result, students will build confidence and positive relationships throughout their summer learning experience.

Emergent Bilingual students in Pre-K through 2nd grade will focus on literacy building through small group rotations to differentiate instruction, build community, and develop/reinforce literacy skills.  First grade transition classes will assist our Spanish speaking students transition to English language of instruction starting in the 2nd grade.   Language Academy classes will serve recent immigrant students with the development of oral language activities for English language acquisition.

Students will have the opportunity to participate in Project-Based Learning (PBL) lessons in grades K-8. The Continuous Improvement Team of Academic Coaches will be available for additional support at all summer school sites.
All CDC guidelines will be followed to ensure student safety.

La jornada escolar de los estudiantes será de 8:00 a.m. a 2:45 p.m., de lunes a jueves. Pre-K a 5to grado seguirá un plan de estudios integral que se enfoca en todas las áreas de contenido.

Los maestros de la escuela de verano brindarán servicios a los alumnos identificados que necesitan apoyo adicional en el contenido del curso de nivel de grado en una proporción de 15:1.

Los estudiantes de tercer a quinto grado recibirán instrucción acelerada (HB4545) en materias evaluadas por STAAR a los estudiantes que proyectan obtener una puntuación por debajo del nivel de aproximación en el examen STAAR de 2023.

Los estudiantes tendrán la oportunidad de asistir a clases de educación física con actividades de aprendizaje socioemocional que incluyen ejercicios de yoga y meditación. Como resultado, los estudiantes desarrollarán confianza y relaciones positivas a lo largo de su experiencia de aprendizaje de verano.

Los estudiantes bilingües emergentes de pre kínder a segundo grado se centrarán en la construcción de alfabetización a través de rotaciones de grupos pequeños para diferenciar la instrucción, construir una comunidad y desarrollar/reforzar las habilidades de alfabetización. Las clases de transición de primer grado ayudarán a nuestros estudiantes de habla hispana a hacer la transición al idioma inglés de instrucción a partir del segundo grado. Las clases de Language Academy servirán a los estudiantes inmigrantes recientes con el desarrollo de actividades de lenguaje oral para la adquisición del idioma inglés.

Los estudiantes tendrán la oportunidad de participar en lecciones de aprendizaje basado en proyectos (PBL) en los grados K-8. El Equipo de Mejoramiento Continuo de Entrenadores Académicos estará disponible para apoyo adicional en todos los sitios de la escuela de verano.

Se seguirán todas las pautas de los CDC para garantizar la seguridad de los estudiantes.
