In 1964, United I.S.D. known previously as the Laredo United Consolidated Independent School District was the first to launch a bilingual education program in the state of Texas. United I.S.D. continues to honor Bilingual Education in November and instill pride in bilingual children by involving parents in their education. Maria Arámbula Ruiz, Bilingual Ed. Director says that the United I.S.D. Bilingual Dept. will be offering two virtual zoom parent sessions on Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2021, for the Secondary level titled “Literacy Resources for Teens & Young Adults” and the Elementary session will be held Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021, titled “Mapping the Success of Your Child Through Reading”. Both sessions will be from 3:30-4:30 p.m. For any questions regarding the Bilingual programs United I.S.D. offers or the upcoming parent virtual sessions, contact your school Principal or the Bilingual Dept. at 473-2113.
