United ISD Announces Olga A. Cantú for Principal of Los Obispos Middle School

The United Independent School District Board of Trustees and Superintendent Roberto J. Santos are pleased to announce Olga A. Cantu as the new Principal of Los Obispos Middle School. 

Mrs. Cantu is a 25-year veteran of United ISD with extensive experience both in the classroom and in school administration.  She earned a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science in Mathematics and a Master of Science in Education Administration from Texas A&M International University. 

For the past 4 years, she has served as Associate Principal of United South 9th Grade Campus and as an Assistant Principal at United South High School for 11 years. Prior to that, Mrs. Cantu was a Bilingual, ESL, and Dual Language Coordinator. She also served as Area II Specialist in Mathematics and Assessment and as A Silver Team Specialist and Interventions.  Her career at United ISD began in 1996, when she was hired as a Mathematics Teacher at Salvador Garcia Middle School.

Besides holding an EC-12 Principal license, she also has a English as a Second Language EC-12, a Bilingual Education Supplemental- Spanish 4-8, EC-4 and Provisional Secondary Mathematics 6-12.

Mrs. Cantu stated, “I am profoundly grateful for the opportunity to lead Los Obispos Middle School as its new Principal. I am very excited and eager to begin working with the staff, teachers, students, and parents of Los Obispos Middle School.   

Mrs. Cantu succeeds Mrs. Salazar who has been appointed as the Principal of United High School.  She will assume her newly appointed position in July 2021.
