The United Independent School District Board of Trustees and Superintendent Roberto J. Santos are pleased to announce Jessica C. Salazar as the new Principal of United High School.
Mrs. Salazar is a 22-year veteran with United ISD with a vast background, both in the classroom and at the school administrative level. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a Master of Science in Education Administration from Texas A&M International University.
For the past eight years, she has served as Principal of Los Obispos Middle School and as an Assistant Principal at United High School for seven years. Prior to that, Ms. Salazar was an Advanced Placement (AP) certified Government teacher and a Study Skills teacher. Besides holding an EC-12 Principal license, she also has a 6-12 Government classroom teacher certification and a Gifted & Talented (GT) certification.
Mrs. Salazar was selected as the Region 1 Principal of the Year in 2019. Other accolades that Mrs. Salazar has amassed include the Chamber of Commerce School Bell Award, Region 1 Assistant Principal of the Year, United ISD League of Legends inductee, and a nominee for the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards in 2019 and 2020.
Mrs. Salazar stated, “I am deeply humbled to have been afforded the opportunity to lead United High School as its new Principal. I am extremely excited and eager to return to the campus where my career as an administrator with United ISD began. To work with the staff, teachers, students, and parents of UHS and the culture they have created is an honor in and of itself. Together we will continue on the path towards excellence in every aspect.”
Mrs. Salazar succeeds Mr. Alberto Aleman, Jr., who will retire this summer after 20 years of service to United ISD.
Mrs. Salazar will assume her newly appointed position in July 2021.
