United ISD and the Fine Arts Department are proud to host the annual Middle School & High School Region XIV Mariachi Clinic and Concert on Saturday, February 1, 2020.
The concert will be held at UISD's Bill Johnson Student Activity Complex Auditorium and begins at 4:00 PM.
Admission charge is $3.00 for Adults, and $1.00 for school-age students (with school ID).
This concert will feature 3 Mariachi performing groups, Middle School Mariachi, High School Mariachi Group II and High School Mariachi Group I. These students qualified
for these groups through an audition process held in December by performing musical excerpts for a panel of judges.
Conductors for the Mariachi groups are: Oscar Martinez, Zapata, Tx. for the Middle School, John Vela, Alice, Tx. for the High School Group II and Ramon Nino, Ft. Worth, High School Mariachi Group 1.
Students will rehearse on Friday at Cigarroa HS and then rehearse on Saturday at the SAC Auditorium to prepare for the concert.
Servando Serna, Cigarroa HS Band Director is the TMEA Region XIV Mariachi Division Chair.
The public is invited to attend to hear exciting mariachi music from 3 outstanding performing groups.
