The Trautmann Middle School Honors Band advanced to the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Honor Band State level for the third time in a row. This is the fifth time in the history of the school that the TMS Honors Band has advanced to this competition. TMEA hosts the State Competition each year and begins the contest by allowing bands from across the state the opportunity to submit a recording of their 2019 UIL Concert Evaluation performance pieces.
A panel of five judges from all over the state listened to entries from schools across Texas. The TMS Honors Band received first-place votes from all five judges and was selected to advance to the Area level. On June 19th at the Area competition, another set of judges listened to a recording of every band that advanced and Trautmann Middle Honors once again received unanimous first-place votes from all five judges, thus advancing to the State level competition.
On July 25, a panel of five judges auditioned the TMS Honors Band recording at the State Competition in San Antonio. United ISD is proud to report that the TMS Honors Band earned ninth place out of 16 Class CCC middle school bands statewide! Trautmann Middle School Honors band is the only band in Laredo to reach this level of competition and receive the honor ofTMEA State Honor Band for 2019-20.
