United ISD Announces Director of Guidance and Counseling

The United Independent School District Board of Trustees and Superintendent Roberto J. Santos are pleased to announce Melissa Chapa Ramirez as the new Director of Guidance and Counseling. 

Ms. Ramirez, who has more than 29 years of education experience, joined UISD in 1990 as a Bilingual Teacher.  She earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Laredo State University and a Master of Science in Education and a minor in Counseling Psychology from Texas A&M International University. 

For the past three years, she has served as Principal at Clark Middle School. Prior to that, she was an Academic Coordinator at United South High School, a Counselor Coordinator at Del Valle ISD in Austin Texas, and as a Bilingual Educator in numerous UISD secondary schools.  

Ms. Ramirez stated, “I am honored to have been given the opportunity to lead a successful group of counselors.  I am extremely excited and eager to work with district administration, staff, teachers, and students.”

Ms. Ramirez succeeds Mrs. Christina Uribe Flores who has accepted a position at Conroe ISD in Houston Texas.
