United Independent School District Announces the appointment of Vania Magallanes as Teacher Incentive Allotment Director.
Ms. Magallanes has over 14 years of experience in education, including more than seven years in an administrative role, Vania Magallanes has collaborated with various district and campus administrators and teachers to promote student success. Her passion for educational excellence and commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment for administrators, teachers, and students have been key drivers in her career.
A product of UISD, She attended Finley Elementary, George Washington Middle School, and graduated from J. B. Alexander Magnet for Health and Science, Class of 2007. Her journey continued with a Bachelor of Arts and Science in Biology and a Master of Science in Educational Administration from Texas A&M International University (TAMIU). Currently, Ms. Magallanes is pursuing her Doctorate of Education in Organizational Leadership, with her dissertation focused on implementing the Teacher Incentive Allotment. Additionally, she holds multiple certifications from the Texas Education Agency (TEA), including Teacher and Principal certification.
Ms. Magallanes started her professional journey in 2010 as a high school science teacher at Martin High School. Later, she took on the role of Assistant Principal and Testing Campus Coordinator in 2017 at Leo. G. Cigarroa High School. Since 2019, Ms. Magallanes has been serving as the Assessment, Accountability, and Data Analytics Coordinator for Laredo ISD, a role that showcases her expertise in managing assessments and data. Her responsibilities included coordinating state and local assessments and introducing accountability reporting projections. This role has allowed her to significantly contribute to improving the district's educational standards. In 2020, she was selected as the District Teacher Incentive Allotment lead. She worked with district leadership to implement, expand, and modify the TIA program. She collected, analyzed, and interpreted teacher observation and performance data to determine eligibility for designations while monitoring and evaluating the program's effectiveness.
She expressed her gratitude for being chosen to lead the Teacher Incentive Allotment program at United ISD. The program is focused on recruiting, retaining, and rewarding exceptional educators. Its primary goal is to foster a culture of teaching excellence by implementing an effective incentive program that acknowledges and celebrates the significant contributions of teachers. Through a commitment to fostering professional development and enhancing student achievement, the program aims to inspire a community of educators dedicated to nurturing the next generation of leaders.
