United Independent School District is partnering with Sames Motor Company yet again to promote perfect daily school attendance. The Kia in the Klassroom program was announced at a spectacular press conference held at the Sames Kia dealership. Sames Motors executives, community partners, and District administrators were present to kickoff this program that awards one lucky student with perfect school attendance with a brand new car.
For the past eleven years, Sames Kia has generously awarded one lucky high school student with perfect school attendance with a brand new car at the end of each school year. Through the Kia in the Klassroom program, UISD high school students can win this prize by attending class daily. Every nine weeks, students with no absences become eligible for a voucher, accumulating up to 4 vouchers throughout the year. These vouchers are then entered into a drawing at the end of the school year, where semifinalists are selected to advance to the final drawing. The drawing winner will drive away in a 2024 Kia Sportage, courtesy of Sames Kia. The Laredo Federal Credit Union sponsors the vehicle's tax, title, and license. Additionally, a driver's education package is provided to the winner by A&K World Class Driving School, and a bonus prize of free Chick-fil-A for a year is awarded courtesy of Chick-fil-A.
UISD’s Director of Admissions, Attendance, Dropout Recovery, and Planning Thelma Martinez expressed the District’s gratitude to Sames Kia for helping promote school attendance while underscoring its importance. “As educators, our goal is for our students to not only receive a well-rounded education, but for them to reach their full academic potential. It is a very hard job to do, and that is why we are very fortunate and grateful when we have community members such as Sames Kia to help us promote attendance in our high schools,” she said.
UISD high school students can get more information about Kia in the Klassroom through their student activity coordinators or campus administrators.
