The United Independent School District held a press conference, together with several Community partners, to officially announce the hosting of the U.I.L. Area G 5A Marching Band Contest which will be held at the SAC Football Field on October 27, 2012. The event is expected to bring over 35 high school 5A marching bands to Laredo for competition, and the City of Laredo can expect well over 10,000 band members, band directors, family members, and friends to travel from San Antonio, Corpus Christi, and the Rio Grande Valley to see this event. In attendance at the press conference were representatives from Webb County, City of Laredo, Laredo Chamber of Commerce, and the Laredo Hotel Lodging Association. UISD will be working closely with each entity to ensure a successful event for all.
