Employees have one of the most comprehensive insurance packages in comparison to other school districts in the state. The Blue Cross & Blue Shield Health Care Insurance Plan is an 80 percent/20 percent plan of which UISD contributes $228.00 and employees contribute only $25.00. Other benefits and plans available to our employees include the following:

  • U.I.S.D. provides all full-time employees with $25,000 of free life insurance in addition to life insurance provided by the Teachers Retirement System.

  • Additional supplemental life insurance plans are also available at competitive rates. For example, an employee 21 years of age can choose to buy $100,000 of coverage at a cost of $5 a month. Plus, coverage is available for spouse and any children.

  • Group dental insurance plan

  • Supplemental disability insurance plan

  • Vision care insurance plan

  • A newly adopted Pre-Paid Legal Insurance Plan. This plan is normally only offered by major private corporations. Now, UISD employees can have access to board certified attorneys who will assist them in addressing various personal legal matters.

  • UISD Section 125 (Cafeteria Plan)

  • Tax Sheltered Annuities

  • Medical Reimbursement Plans

  • Plus much more.
