Program Overview

The Department of Instruction for Secondary Education in Science is designed for the purpose of:

Collaborating with secondary science teachers in curriculum cadres to revise and develop a scope and sequence that nurtures a learner centered environment and integrates technology to achieve student success.
Evaluating science programs that meet the needs of all students in the district.
Assisting in the planning and coordination of appropriate staff development based on needs assessment, AEIS report, and performance data.
Disaggregating science data and provide data analysis to campuses.
Conduct classroom observations and provide teachers and administrators with feedback.
Providing leadership and expertise in the development of instructional activities to meet diverse student needs.
Modeling teaching strategies that promote highly effective questioning strategies that develop strong critical thinkers and support active student engagement.
Coordinating the district science fair.
Facilitating grant writing and implementation.
