Program Overview

The Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills and the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills pave the way for instruction in the English, language arts, and creative writing courses.  The English Language Arts courses encompass readings from various literary genres including American, British, and world selections.  Essays and research projects are integral components of the content area.  Emphasis in composition includes style and literary elements, as well as an in-depth overview of grammar, usage, and mechanics. The ELA courses also stress SAT preparation and offer Advanced Placement opportunities at the high school level.
