Jorge García, recipient of the September One Class At A Time Award

Laredo Federal Credit Union staff, KGNS –TV, Telemundo, and the CW congratulated Trautmann Middle School Band and Mariachi Band Director Jorge Garcia for being the  “One Class At A Time” award recipient for September 2012. Also joining in the celebration were Judd Gilpin,  U.I.S.D. Board President, David Garcia,  Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources and Leti Menchaca Turner, Trautmann Middle School Principal.  Mr. Garcia was nominated by his student Fernando (Trey), Alarcon III. Alarcon said that Mr. Garcia used his own time after school to teach the bands to march and perform in UIL competition. “Thanks to Mr. Garcia we have won city-wide and state level competitions. We have even won first place in San Antonio while competing against other middle school and high school bands”, said Alarcon. Garcia received an educational grant in the amount of $750.00 from the Laredo Federal Credit Union. The money will be used to purchase additional supplies for his classroom.
