United Independent School District (UISD) Superintendent Roberto J. Santos is pleased to announce Emma Leza as the new Executive Director of Instructional Accountability.
Ms. Leza will oversee the Instructional Accountability Department which provides guidance and support towards assuring the compliance of mandated state and federal programs to all district stakeholders. The Department also remains abreast of ever-changing legal requirements and revisions to the state and federal accountability systems and shares the most current data with stakeholders. Moreover, the Department provides comprehensive student performance data for analysis to all departments and campuses to assure targeted interventions to accelerate student achievement.
Leza, a long-time educator, began her career at UISD in1994 as a math and accounting teacher at United South High School. During her tenure Leza has worked as a Bilingual Elementary teacher and Assistant Principal at Finley Elementary school. Most recently, Leza has served as a Director for the Bilingual, English as a Second Language, DUAL and Foreign Language Department within the Instructional Accountability Department for Curriculum and Instruction.

Her remarkable leadership skills, knowledge and experience will take the Instructional Accountability Department to even greater heights. Leza holds several degrees and certificates from Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), which include a Masters of Science in Education Administration, Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting degree and a Bilingual/ESL Education Certificate and Reading Certificate. In addition, Leza holds a certificate for Professional Development Appraisal System and Instructional Leadership Development System Appraiser.
