Federal Programs oversees the United Independent School District’s After School Adventures Child Care Program at 21 elementary campuses. It provides affordable child care for the children of working parents during the hours of operation between 2:45 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
This program is a self sufficient program that is maintained solely on the fees that parents are charged for such services. It is anticipated that the program will service approximately 1,800 students. The Program has a full time program coordinator, program secretary, 21 head caregivers, over 100 caregivers, approximately 41 substitutes and 8 supervisors/professionals (teachers) who oversee anywhere from 2 to 4 campuses depending on number of students per campus, who are enrolled in the program.
The After School Adventures Child Care program’s goal is to provide a quality program complementary to the school experiences of the participating children, one that will create a trusting atmosphere where the children are encouraged to pursue their own interests, develop friendships and grow in confidence, independence and respect for themselves and others. The program provides afternoon snacks, one hour of homework time and has a structured curriculum that is hands on where the children rotate through the different activity areas.
