The Department of Instruction for Secondary Education in Science is designed for the purpose of:
- Collaborating with secondary science teachers in curriculum cadres to revise and develop a scope and sequence that nurtures a learner centered environment and integrates technology to achieve student success.
- Evaluating science programs that meet the needs of all students in the district.
- Assisting in the planning and coordination of appropriate staff development based on needs assessment, AEIS report, and performance data.
- Disaggregating science data and provide data analysis to campuses.
- Conduct classroom observations and provide teachers and administrators with feedback.
- Providing leadership and expertise in the development of instructional activities to meet diverse student needs.
- Modeling teaching strategies that promote highly effective questioning strategies that develop strong critical thinkers and support active student engagement.
- Coordinating the district science fair.
- Facilitating grant writing and implementation.
