United ISD hosted a luncheon for business partners who participated in this year’s Teacher Externship Program. Coordinated through the District’s Career and Technical Education Department, the Program helps bridge the gap between the classroom and the “real world” by bringing teachers into the workplace for one week. Teachers then have the opportunity to incorporate their new-found knowledge and observations into lesson plans for their students in the upcoming school year. United ISD would like to thank all 2012 Teacher Externship Sponsors

Compassion, global friendship, and a positive sense of self is what students in Elsa Martinez’s art class at the United High School 9th Grade Campus learned through their participation in the Memory Project. The Memory Project is a unique initiative in which art students create portraits <http://www.memoryproject.org/create.php> such drawings, paintings, and digital artwork for less fortunate children around the world. Pictured are the UHS talented art students who were recognized for making a difference for disadvantaged children in Africa.

At the Region XIV TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association) Honor Band Auditions, (June 4th), Gregory Portland High School, they were selected by a panel of 5 judges to advance to the Area level competition!
5A High Schools bands in Music Region XIV were able to submit a recording of their UIL Concert Contest selections as per the guidelines in the TMEA Honor Band process.
The rules state that only two bands can advance to the area level and then at Area G only two can advance to the State level. The Area G Honor Band audition will be held again
