At Home Drug Testing now an option for UISD parents

United ISD’s new on-demand drug testing program allows parents to administer drug tests to their children in the privacy of their own homes. This is made possible with easy-to-use drug testing kits, which are now available to parents at all UISD high schools, middle schools, and the STEP Academy. These kits give parents the ability to test their child for marijuana, cocaine, amphetamines, Rohypnol, and heroin.

The test results will remain confidential; parents will not be required to reveal the results to anyone. Also included with the kits will be a list of community agencies and resources that offer counseling for substance abuse and addiction. In addition, UISD Chemical Dependency Counselors will be available to offer guidance and advice. These kits are available, free of charge, at the front office of any UISD middle school, high school campus, or the STEP Academy.

A pledge drive was used to raise the money to purchase the kits; one drug testing kit costs about $5.00. Contributions and pledges for this initial effort totaled $18,500.00.
