Experience/Education
Mrs. Gloria Rendon is a native Laredoan who attended schools in Laredo ISD. Celebrating 24 years of service to public schools, Mrs. Rendon continues to find her work rewarding and challenging. A graduate of Nixon High School, Mrs. Rendon furthered her education at Laredo Community College prior to transferring to Texas A&I in Kingsville, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She returned to Laredo to begin her teaching career while taking graduate courses at Laredo State University (L.S.U.). She also earned a master’s degree in School Administration while meeting the certification requirements to serve as a school counselor and school administrator. Her work experience includes serving as a teacher, school counselor, assistant principal, interim principal, district wide coordinator and assistant to the Superintendent. Mrs. Rendon is currently serving as Assistant Superintendent for Administration in the United Independent School District. Her role includes overseeing district policies, oversees campus compliance, daily operations of the Admissions/Attendance and Dropout Recovery, Public Relations Department and the Office of Communications.

Goal
Increase the District’s graduation and attendance rates through the implementation of effective dropout and instructional interventions and to ensure that all students are accurately accounted for funding purposes.
Mission Statement
The Mission of the United Independent School District’s Admissions/Attendance and Dropout Recovery Program is to provide dropout intervention services to at-risk students. Additionally, the program will recruit students who have already dropped out of school and offer them an alternative graduation/completion path. The Department will monitor and assist campuses in an effort to achieve a high Average Daily Attendance (ADA) through district/school initiatives, enforcement of the Compulsory Attendance Law (Chapter 25) and parental involvement.
Education/Experience
Jose A. Almazan is the Director for the Office of Admissions, Attendance, and Dropout Recovery. Jose’s credentials include: Bachelors in Music, Master of Science in Education, Certification for Principal and Superintendent and currently attending the Doctoral Program in Educational Administration at Texas A&M – College Station. Jose served as assistant band director at H.M. King HS in Kingsville Texas and then moved to Laredo where he was the Director of Bands at Dr. Leo G. Cigarroa High School (Laredo I.S.D.) for 16 years. His prior administrative experience includes assistant principal at Memorial Middle School (Laredo I.S.D.) and assistant principal and administrator of the Health and Science Small Learning Community at Zapata High School. He has been active in state organizations and assumed leadership positions within TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association and TASSP (Texas Association of Secondary School Principals); and is current active member of: TASBO (Texas Association of Secondary School Business Officials and AERA (American Educational Research Association). Jose has been an active musician performing throughout South Texas in the mariachi and conjunto genres.

Mission
The Communications Department ensures timely and accurate communication between United ISD, the community, district departments and schools.
Department Goals:
In alignment with district goals, the Communications Department mission is to:
• Provide the community with helpful and up-to date information.
• Promote community involvement and build partnerships that serve to enhance the educational experience of United ISD students.
• Showcase the accomplishments of our students, staff, employees, campuses and departments.
• Inform the community of upcoming events that pertain to the district.
• Facilitate our local media outlets for the purpose disseminating information in the most timely manner.
• Create informative publications that pertain to district policy and procedures.
• Develop publications for individual campuses, departments and events.
Paola Arcos-Mansinghani, Communication Specialist

Education/Experience
Paola Arcos Mansinghani serves as a Communications Specialist for the Communications Department. Paola has her bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from Universidad de Monterrey. Paola previous work experience includes the following: publications and graphic design at the Laredo Independent School District, Laredo Morning Times, and El Mañana newspaper. Paola enjoys painting in her spare time and enjoying cooking gourmet food.
Alex Meyer, Communication Specialist

Education/Experience
Alex Meyer is a Communications Specialist for the U.I.S.D. Communications Department. Alex earned his bachelor’s degree in Communications from Loyola University in New Orleans, Louisiana. His previous work experience includes serving as Creative Services Producer at KGNS-TV, Production Director at KRRG radio and Child Protective Services Investigator. Alex’s hobbies include music, theatre, film reading and travel.
Rocio, Moore, Communication Specialist

Education/Experience
Rocio G. Moore serves as a Communications Specialist for the Communications Department. Rocio has her bachelor’s degree in Communications from UVB in Tamaulipas and her Master of Science in Education from Texas A&M Corpus Christi. She also holds an associate’s certification by Adobe Systems Incorporated as a Photoshop user. She is the publisher of I Love Laredo newspaper. Her previous work experience includes the following: teaching Advertising Design at Martin High School, Graphic Designer at the Laredo Independent School District, Creative Services Director at Laredo Morning Times, and Graphic Designer at El Mañana Newspaper. Rocio enjoys photography, drawing, reading and music.
Rosie Rocha, Graphic Designer

Education/Experience
Rosie Rocha serves as a Graphic Designer for the Communications Department. Rosie has an associate’s degree in Applied Science in Computer Information Technology, from the Texas State Tech. College in Harlingen, Texas. Her previous work experience includes the following: Packard Electric as a Systems Analyst, City of Laredo Police & Fire Department as a Micro-Computer Specialist and South Texas Development Council as a 911 Specialist/Global Positioning Systems. Rosie enjoys spending time with her family and loves baseball.

Mission
The mission of the United Independent School District Office of Public Relations is to: promote and highlight the academic accomplishments of our students, as well the achievements of our faculty, staff, and District, to our various stakeholders through the effective use of two-way communication and various media outlets.
Education/Experience
Veronica “Roni” R. Cantu serves as Director for the Office of Public Relations. Roni has her bachelor’s degree in Communications and master’s degree in Public Administration from Texas A&M International University. Her previous work experience includes the following: a reporter at KVTV, the Honorable Henry Cuellar in his capacities as State Representative and Secretary of State, Communications Specialist at the Laredo Independent School District Office of Communications, and as a Legislative Liaison with the City of Laredo. She enjoys volunteering her time in the community.
