Twenty-six lucky high school students from our community were awarded a $1,000 scholarship on behalf of the Geo Group. Students from the different school districts including twelve from United ISD were presented with scholarship letters of commitment at the Webb County Coommissioner’s courthouse. Commissioner for Precinct 2, Rosaura “Wawi” Tijerina along with Geo Group Facility Administrator Juan Baltazar spoke about the importance of education and investing in our future generations.
“As a former educator, I believe education is the key that opens all doors in life,” said Commissioner Tijerina.
“This partnership has been going on for 18 years and we’re very proud to invest in this community, because it’s investing in our future,” said Juan Baltazar.
The following students from UISD were awarded with a scholarship.

The Geo Group in partnership with Commissioner Tijerina and other members of the Webb County Commissioner’s court, encourage students to pursue higher education through scholarships. A total of $26,000 were awarded this year.
