UISD Appoints David Guzman as Washington Middle  School Principal

The United Independent School District proudly announces the appointment of David Guzman as the new Principal of George Washington Middle School.

Guzman is no stranger to this campus as he was the assistant principal from 2003-2011. Prior to recently being promoted to principal he was an assistant principal at United High School for 13 years. Guzman brings 27 years of substantial experience in the field of education. His career includes 21 years in administration at United ISD, complemented by six years as a classroom teacher and coach in the Laredo Independent School District. 

Throughout his career, Guzman has demonstrated exemplary leadership, earning recognition such as the Texas Association of Secondary School Principal’s 2011 Region 1 Middle School Assistant Principal of the Year. His dedication to fostering a positive culture and safe learning environment aligns with George Washington Middle School's commitment to excellence.

As principal, Guzman aims to uphold the rich tradition of success at George Washington Middle School, focusing on maintaining high passing rates in state exams and nurturing a collaborative and supportive community. He emphasizes the importance of teamwork in achieving shared goals, echoing the values instilled by his parents, former educators Mario and Grace Guzman.

"I am honored that UISD’s administrators in charge and Board of Trustees entrusted me as Principal of George Washington Middle School,” said Guzman. “I am excited and ready to work and learn!"  

Guzman is a product of UISD himself having graduated from United High School. He studied political science and criminal justice at Texas A&M International University. In 2002, he earned his Master’s degree in Educational Administration.

He is supported by his wife Vanessa, currently serving as assistant principal at Alexander High School, and their three children, Mila Rose, David James and Luke Anthony.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Guzman enjoys playing basketball, traveling, spending quality time with his family and mastering the art of BBQing.
